Fortsetzungsantrag zu DFG-Forschungsgruppe FOR2974 „Affective and cognitive mechanisms of specific Internet-use disorders (ACSID)“

Over the last decades, there has been controversial debate regarding whether behavioral addictions should be acknowledged as mental disorders and if so, whether they should be classified along with substance-related disorders. This controversy has abated in 2013, when gambling disorder, having previously been classified as part of impulse-control disorders in the DSM-IV, was moved to the category of substance-related and addictive disorders in the DSM-5 (APA, 2013). Internet-gaming disorder has been included as a condition for further consideration, also for this category. In the ICD-11 (World-Health-Organization, 2019), gambling disorder and gaming disorder are classified as “disorders due to addictive behaviors”, which are considered as occurring either predominantly offline (without using the Internet) or predominantly online (on the Internet).
